The Peak Returns, the Wilder the Run, the Closer to Nature: 2026 CHANDO Himalayan Extreme Trail Run Returns This Summer
Release time:2026.03.20

As the first light of summer sweeps across the summit of Mount Namjagbarwa, the top of the world awaits the return of the brave. The 2026 CHANDO Himalayan Extreme Trail Run is officially scheduled to take place from June 5 to 7, making a powerful return to Lulang, Nyingchi.

Continuing the spirit of “the wilder the run, the closer to nature,” this year’s event will offer an upgraded race experience, empowering runners from around the world to unlock their potential, explore nature’s extremes, and begin a peak challenge on the Third Pole of the Earth.

The event is hosted by the Nyingchi Municipal People’s Government, organized by the Nyingchi Municipal Education Bureau, the Nyingchi Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, and the People’s Government of Bayi District, and title-sponsored for the fourth consecutive edition by CHANDO, a leading Chinese beauty brand.

Drawing on the unparalleled landscapes, rich culture and extreme natural environment of the Himalayas, the 2026 CHANDO Himalayan Extreme Trail Run once again calls on the brave to embrace the purest desire to explore nature — to listen to nature’s resonance among the mountain peaks and redefine the limits of the self.

This year, the total race capacity will expand to 1,000 participants. The event will continue to position itself as one of China’s benchmark trail races, known for its high altitude, breathtaking scenery and high entry threshold. With a total prize pool of RMB 200,000, the race is expected to attract elite runners from across the country.

Whether you are an elite athlete aiming for the podium, a challenger determined to break through your own limits, or an explorer drawn to the hidden beauty of the plateau, the three classic race categories — Conquer the Peak 55km, Breakthrough Challenge 35km, and Natural Wonderland 10km — will invite you to begin an extraordinary dialogue with nature and yourself, and experience a once-in-a-lifetime journey.

Registration will officially open on March 21, 2026, continuing the story between the brave and the Himalayas.

Looking back at 2025, the unforgettable image remains: nearly 500 runners racing under the gaze of Mount Namjagbarwa, across altitudes ranging from 3,380 meters to 4,680 meters. Race entries sold out within 30 minutes, and more than 20 elite runners joined the event — all testifying to the irreplaceable appeal of this course. It is a battlefield for elite breakthroughs and a stage for the brave to redefine themselves.

Four Major Upgrades to Redefine the Peak Race Experience

In 2026, the event will undergo its most significant upgrade since its founding. While maintaining its core characteristics of high altitude, high entry standards and high prize incentives, the race will deliver a richer, purer and more awe-inspiring experience. More runners who revere nature and long to challenge themselves will have the opportunity to stand on this ultimate course and write a new legend together.

Scale Upgrade: Reaching More Dreams

The total race capacity will expand from several hundred participants in previous editions to 1,000 runners. This is not merely a numerical increase, but a way to give more well-prepared challengers the precious opportunity to stand at the starting line on top of the world. While the scale is expanding, the event will maintain its high standards for participants’ high-altitude experience and trail running capability.

Course Upgrade: Every Step Reveals the Extraordinary

The course has been fully optimized while retaining classic landmarks such as the Baifengtai Viewing Platform and Gongcuo Lake. Repeated sections have been significantly reduced, while the proportion of primitive forest sections has been increased.

Runners will pass through vertical landscape zones of snow mountains, meadows, mountain passes and talus slopes, experiencing the changing seasons of the Himalayas in a single day.

Experience Upgrade: Running Between Nature and Faith

This is more than a competitive challenge. It is also an immersive journey into local culture. Along the route, colorful prayer flags send blessings, ancient Tibetan villages rest quietly among the mountains, and mani stone piles silently tell their stories. The event seamlessly integrates extreme challenge with Tibetan culture, allowing every breath to carry the grandeur of nature and the depth of cultural heritage.

Technology Upgrade: Capturing Every Highlight

For the first time, the event will introduce 4K + 5G full-course livestreaming technology. Aerial drones, vehicle-mounted cameras, fixed camera positions and runner GPS tracking will work together to create a comprehensive visual record of the race.Whether runners are climbing with determination, pausing to recover, or shouting as they cross the finish line, every precious moment will be captured in high definition.

Professional Protection and a Promise to the Mountains

To ensure the safety of every runner, the event will be equipped with a comprehensive emergency rescue system and will strictly enforce mandatory gear checks.

At the same time, the race remains committed to the environmental belief of “taking from nature and giving back to nature.” It will continue its solemn promise to the Himalayas: no disposable supply utensils will be provided during the race, and participants are required to bring their own tableware.

All runners must sign an environmental protection pledge and carry all personal waste to designated disposal points. Any confirmed environmental violations will result in strict penalties.

With professional support, we safeguard every runner’s safety. With the highest standards, we give back to nature.
