CHANDO Collaborates with Huashan Hospital to Advance Research in Skin Science and Hair Health

In recent years, rapid societal changes and accelerated lifestyles, compounded by stress and dietary habits, have led to widespread and diverse skin and hair health issues. These concerns not only impact personal appearance and confidence but also serve as critical indicators of overall health.

In 2023, CHANDO signed a strategic partnership with Huashan Hospital, a leading institution in dermatology and hair follicle research. Building on this foundation, the two parties established the joint laboratory in 2024 to initiate collaborative research projects aimed at addressing challenges in skin, scalp, and hair health for Chinese consumers.

Prof. Wu Wenyu stated during his speech: "The establishment of this joint laboratory between Huashan Hospital and CHANDO is a natural progression and a powerful alliance. Through this collaboration, we are confident that our combined strengths will accelerate the application and transformation of skin science research, delivering higher-quality, safer, and more effective products to Chinese consumers."

The joint research will focus on fundamental scientific studies and translational applications, such as analyzing the characteristics and molecular mechanisms of scalp and hair issues among Chinese populations. Leveraging research outcomes, the collaboration will identify efficacy targets and evaluation protocols to screen active ingredients for scalp and hair care, ensuring the development, assessment, and application of safe and high-performance products.

CHANDO Deepens Focus on Personal Care, Accelerating New Growth Opportunities

According to Qingyan Data, from January to September 2023, shampoo held a 67.1% market share in the hair care sector, followed by shampoo-conditioner sets at 11.8%. The shampoo market is projected to reach 475.2 billion yuan in 2023 and grow to 515 billion yuan by 2025.

China’s hair care market is at an inflection point:

1. Leading domestic beauty brands are entering the sector to challenge international dominance and reshape the market landscape.

2. Functional segmentation, particularly in oil control and volumizing products, is rapidly expanding.

3. Consumers increasingly prioritize natural ingredients like botanicals and traditional herbs while demanding proven efficacy.

As early as 2011, CHANDO began strategizing its entry into the hair care market by appointing expert consultants and forming a dedicated R&D team. In 2012, the Group officially launched a project to "develop next-generation disruptive hair care products." During R&D, CHANDO recognized that facial and scalp skin are interconnected, emphasizing the importance of foundational research in scalp and hair health. Subsequently, the Group established a laboratory for scalp care and hair care efficacy evaluation, equipped with systematic testing capabilities.

CHANDO has consistently focused on "the skin atop the head," delving into advanced ingredients and scientific formulations to achieve exceptional product performance. In 2022, the Group successfully commercialized its scalp care technology, launching a premium line for sensitive scalps that achieved remarkable market success. In 2024, CHANDO combined the natural herbal extracts from the Himalayas with natural science and technology, innovated the technical concept of oil control, adopted the living flower fragrance extraction technology, and launched the herbal hair care series. It is committed to creating a new benchmark for oil control and voluminous hair.
