On August 29, 2024, Shanghai, co-organized by CHANDO and Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), with special support from the China Aerospace Foundation, the Space-Traveled Hyaluron-Producing Yeast Strain Handover Ceremony and Joint R&D Project by SJTU State Key Laboratory of Microbial Metabolism was successfully held at the SJTU Life Science Museum. China Aerospace officially handed over the yeast strain samples that had traveled in space for 154 days aboard the Shenzhou-16 spacecraft to Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The returned samples included the Hyaluron-Producing Yeast® strain, jointly discovered in 2018 by SJTU's State Key Laboratory of Microbial Metabolism and CHANDO Group's R&D Center in the Himalayan region - known as the "Third Pole" of the world. On this occasion, both parties officially announced their joint research initiative on space-traveled Hyaluron-Producing Yeast®, marking a new phase where CHANDO's recently developed "Anti-Fatigue Aging" yeast skincare technology may enter the space age.
At the ceremory, Mr. Hou Xiufeng, Vice Chairman of the China Aerospace Foundation, elaborated on space breeding technology and the effects of space environment on carried microbial strains. He stated that the spaceflight of Hyaluron-Producing Yeast® represents a completely new exploration, expressing strong anticipation for its enhanced stress resistance post-spaceflight. Simultaneously, Professor Zhao Xinqing from Shanghai Jiao Tong University's School of Life Sciences and Biotechnology announced joint research achievements in microbial space breeding between the university and CHANDO, along with the next-phase scientific plan for the Hyaluron-Producing Yeast® joint research project. Ms. Jiang Shanshan, Senior Project Manager of CHANDO's R&D Center, presented the brand's milestones in space skincare research and the application development plan for space-traveled Hyaluron-Producing Yeast®. Ms. Jiang Shanshan, Senior Project Manager of CHANDO's R&D Center, stated that the brand's core product, the sixth-generation "Little Purple Bottle," utilizes self-developed polar Hyaluron-Producing Yeast® fermentation filtrate + lysate, providing a root-cause solution for anti-fatigue aging. CHANDO anticipates that the Shenzhou-16 space-traveled Hyaluron-Producing Yeast® will demonstrate enhanced stress resistance and superior anti-fatigue aging efficacy.
CHANDO's Decade-Long Aerospace Research Journey: Challenging Yet Remarkable
As a natural high-tech brand rooted in the Himalayas, CHANDO became an official partner of China's aerospace program in 2013. Over the years, the brand has deepened collaborations with the China Aerospace Foundation and the State Key Laboratory of Microbial Metabolism at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Together, they have pioneered two groundbreaking initiatives: the Himalayan Rare Plant Space Breeding Project and the Himalayan Microbial Space Selection Research Project. Beyond scientific research, CHANDO has also developed specialized cleansing, skincare, and cosmetic products tailored for astronauts' in-orbit living conditions.
Successful Completion of the Space-Traveled Hyaluron-Producing Yeast® Handover Ceremony Marks CHANDO's Entry into a New Era of Space Skincare
Hyaluron-Producing Yeast® originates from the Himalayas, the "Third Pole" of the world. CHANDO's R&D Center has repeatedly ventured into the heart of the Himalayan mountains. Through gene sequencing technology, they isolated 558 microbial strains and established a unique Himalayan Microbial Strain Bank. From this collection, they identified Hyaluron-Producing Yeast® - a yeast strain demonstrating exceptional stress resistance in extreme environments. Compared to laboratory-cultured yeast, its fermentation byproducts contain more beneficial components, exhibit stronger cellular regenerative capabilities, and consequently deliver superior anti-aging effects on skin.
Unwavering Commitment to Space Research: CHANDO Continues to Pioneer a New Epoch in Skincare
The sixth-generation CHANDO "Little Purple Bottle," with Hyaluron-Producing Yeast® as its core ingredient, consistently tops national essence product rankings. As early as July 19 this year, CHANDO collaborated with the Human Skin Health Committee of Shanghai Anthropological Society and multiple experts from Fudan University to host the "2024 Chinese Women's Anti-Fatigue Aging Technology Forum." The forum revealed for the first time the trending phenomenon of premature aging among Chinese women and identified fatigue-induced aging causes. It also unveiled the groundbreaking "Anti-Fatigue Aging" technology - a combination of self-developed polar Hyaluron-Producing Yeast® fermentation filtrate and lysate, proposing a cellular-level regeneration concept and fundamental solutions for anti-fatigue aging. This innovation led to the creation of CHANDO's first dedicated anti-fatigue aging essence - the sixth-generation "Little Purple Bottle."
Whether it's the polar Hyaluron-Producing Yeast® fermentation filtrate and lysate already applied in the sixth-generation "Little Purple Bottle," or the aerospace-enhanced version of Hyaluron-Producing Yeast®, CHANDO remains committed to addressing consumers' genuine skincare concerns as its fundamental starting point. By providing scientifically validated ingredients and efficacy through rigorous research, CHANDO demonstrates the core motivation behind its persistent pursuit of aerospace skincare research.
Moving forward, CHANDO will continue to harness original technological innovation as its core competitive edge, relentlessly pushing new boundaries for "Created in China" excellence and pioneering fresh pathways for the sustained advancement of Chinese beauty. Key product lines featuring Hyaluron-Producing Yeast® as their star ingredient—including the "Little Purple Bottle" essence, "Polar Miracle Water", and Collagen Cream—are now poised for their next space-grade evolution.
