By 2023, the cumulative planting area has reached 5.66 million square meters, revitalizing the Himalayan ecosystem and contributing to rural revitalization and the construction of a Beautiful China.

Fulfilling the Public Welfare Commitment, Protecting the Ecology of the Himalayas

The harsh environment of the Himalayas nurtures over 10,000 resilient plant species, playing a critical role in maintaining Earth’s ecological balance. However, global climate change and overgrazing have exacerbated soil erosion and desertification. CHANDO fulfills its public welfare commitment to the Himalayas by planting 1 million square meters of green barley annually—a symbol of vitality and hope. By giving back to nature, CHANDO protects the region’s invaluable biodiversity, provides abundant pasture resources for local villagers, and creates alternative income streams to improve their livelihoods.

"For over a decade, we have carried out ecological planting, biodiversity conservation, and environmental education in the Himalayas. The 'Greening the Himalayas' initiative is a flagship project in ecological restoration," stated Fang Zhi, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Environmental Protection Foundation. "JALA Group, a leading Chinese cosmetics enterprise, actively fulfills its corporate social responsibilities. In 2016, it established the 'CHANDO Himalaya Environmental Protection Public Welfare Fund,' investing a total of 24 million RMB over seven years to plant nearly 9,000 mu (approximately 600 hectares) of grassland."

For years, CHANDO has called on individuals from all sectors to participate in its public welfare initiatives, contributing to the protection of the "Third Pole’s" ecology and building a global community of life. Since 2016, CHANDO has established a unique Public Welfare Partner mechanism: for every purchase of the fifth-generation TIME FROZEN ESSENCE (Little Purple Bottle), CHANDO donates 10 RMB to the China Environmental Protection Foundation to support green barley planting.
